Research and Professional Resources
Departmental resources include an extensive film and video collection, as well as teaching and research labs for archaeology, linguistic anthropology, and physical anthropology, which can be used for research by graduate students and advanced undergraduates. A regular colloquium series as well graduate and undergraduate student associations welcome student participation. Formal and informal cooperative arrangements with museums and other academic programs in the greater New York area place at students' disposal a group of anthropological scholars, materials, and internship possibilities unparalleled in this country.

Research Support
The financial aid program of the Graduate School of Arts and Science seeks to ensure that all academically qualified students have enough financial support to meet their expenses while they work toward their degrees. Awards include support for tuition and modest living expenses in the form of fellowships, teaching and research assistantships, and loans. Graduate Enrollment Services at the Graduate School and the NYU Office of Financial Aid offer additional financial options. The staff in each of these offices work closely with students to develop reasonable financial plans for completing a degree.
For more information on the Graduate School of Arts and Science fellowships, assistantships, prizes, and awards, please visit gsas.nyu.edu/page/grad.financialaid or contact the Office of Student Affairs and Academic Services at One-half Fifth Avenue or the Office of the Dean at 6 Washington Square North, or the individual departments.
In addition to the substantial fellowship support available through the Graduate School of Arts and Science, the Department of Anthropology offers assistance to their students from departmental funds. Please consult the Director of Graduate Studies, Prof. Susan Rogers, to learn of the many additional opportunities available. A partial listing of the departmental prizes and awards appears below:
The Claire G. Goodman Fellowship is awarded to students pursuing archaeological research.
The Esther DeBerg Kahn Key Pin Award is awarded to an outstanding female graduate.
The Annette B. Weiner Fellowship in cultural anthropology supports ethnographic fieldwork by graduate students. The fellowship carries on the inspiration and dedication that Annette Weiner gave to the field of anthropology, so that her vision will be carried forward to the next generation.
The Sutton Award is given for excellence in student anthropological research and/or writing that includes a gender and transnational perspective. Funds for the award were gifted by Constance Sutton and come from contributions to her from IWAC, the Eleanor B. Leacock Memorial Fund, and the NYU Department of Anthropology at her retirement.
